WCEF 2023 Accelerator Session – Cities and regions accelerating the circular transition
Updated on 28.02.2024
The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) brought together business leaders, policymakers and experts to present the world’s best circular economy solutions, with local examples from different cities/regions, projects and partners of the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (i.e. Guimaraes, Leuven, Zero Waste Scotland, Helsinki-Uusimaa Circular Valley).
Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions
Cities and regions can make use of the shared experiences of the representatives in this event who came from Guimaraes, Portugal; Leuven, Belgium; Zero Waste Scotland; Helsinki-Uusimaa Circular Valley, Finland. These participants shared their experiences about the possibilities available for public authorities, various industries, businesses and citizens to create and/or improve circular systemic solutions in their cities/regions. This webinar can inspire cities/regions in the Designing phase of the CCRI Methodology through the experiences of this event's participants who may be tackling similar circularity topics (e.g. waste management for food, textiles, biowaste, plastics, fertilisers; sustainability education; material banks; built environment restoration and repurposing; digitalisation; funding). Especially the Q&A sessions after each presentation can offer practical insights into both tools available for circularity and ideas on what to prioritise based on the specific needs of a locality.
