Textile fibre recycling from mixed streams of PESCO textiles
Updated on 21.06.2024
The objective of PESCO-UP is to develop a sustainable and economically and technologically viable process of the mixed CO/PES textile waste to be upcycled into cotton originated and polyester products. The processes should enable for production of new products without quality restriction and of products with identical properties and performances as those produced using primary resources.
Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions
This project stands as an example for cities and regions working on CSSs related to (mixed cotton/polyester) textile recycling/upcycling. The project can be especially relevant for cities and regions interested in the development of automated identification and sorting methods for textiles. Furthermore, it is also relevant for those interested in Digital Product Passports for textiles, as well as the development of purification and separation technologies for textile waste. The project website and its social media pages can be used to follow updates and more information on the project.
