SCREEN - Synergic Circular Economy across European Regions
Updated on 21.06.2024
SCREEN aims at the definition of a replicable systemic approach towards a transition to Circular Economy in EU regions within the context of the Smart Specialization Strategy, through the identification and implementation of operational synergies between R&I investments from H2020 and the European Structural and Investment Funds, thus contributing to novel future eco-innovative and horizontal business models across different value chains.
Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions
This project offers many relevant deliverables for cities and regions interested in improving inter-city and/or inter-regional synergies for circularity. These can facilitate stronger bonds among cities and regions which can help them benefit from knowledge exchange and risk/cost sharing of undertaking new initiatives. This can be helpful in analysing the policy framework, territory metabolism, and key stakeholders in the Mapping phase of CSS deployment, as well as engaging the key stakeholders and identifying intervention areas in the Design phase. The connection of the project to R&I investments from H2020 and the European Structural and Investment Funds positions it (and its deliverables) as a valuable resource to provide insights into project adoption and financing during the Implement phase in CSS deployment.
Main results and lessons learnt
The project resulted in guidelines for assessing project circularity, methodology for regional cooperation, a roadmap for building Circular Value Chains, and a recommendation manual for policy maker. These can all be found at: http://www.screen-lab.eu/documents/SCREEN%20Presentation-En.pdf
