Novel Organic recovery using Mobile ADvanced technology
Updated on 21.06.2024
The project aims to develop an innovative, small-scale tech solution designed to recover fibre and specific nutrients from digestate for formulation into high performance bio-fertiliser products. It addresses key digestate issues including environmental and health risks, handling, variable composition and the increasing volume being produced.
Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions
The project aims to form the grounds for fostering a vibrant, widely replicable organic circular economy model, enabling an urban anaerobic digestion market by managing surplus digestate in an environment with limited space for food production, and capturing the full value of organic wastes across catchment areas for local reuse. As such, the project could be promising for cities and regions interested in reducing the overall cost, complexity and footprint of small anaerobic digestion plants, creating new revenue streams and improving economic viability.
Main results and lessons learnt
This project developed mobile trailers for processing digestate locally (see: https://www.projectnomad.eu/technology/)
Field trials were conducted in the four demo countries to evaluate the performance of the NOMAD fertilisers (see: https://www.projectnomad.eu/field-trials/).N1440
