Updated on 20.10.2022

To improve social acceptability, the circular bioeconomy must use residual bio-based feedstock and food waste to reduce dependency on crops and competition with agriculture/food markets. Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions

One Circular Systemic Solution is to use food waste as feedstock in the circular bioeconomy, but this presents barriers, especially socio-cultural. Public authorities and CSOs can raise awareness among communities and consumers, while consultations with producer associations and CSOs can improve regulation to address market barriers.
