The Circularity Gap Reports by the Circularity Gap Reporting Initiative

Updated on 17.06.2024

The Circularity Gap Reports analyse the global material footprint of key global systems such as food, built environment, and manufactured goods. After analysing the current state of circularity worldwide, the reports give an overview of high level solutions across these global systems. They also provide strategies to advance toward these solutions. A unique aspect of these reports is that they address how to implement and prioritise these solution suggestions for countries from three different levels of economic development (what it calls the 'Shift Countries', 'Grow Countries' and Build Countries').

Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions

Based on its global circularity analyses and stock-taking, these reports can offer cities and regions strategies and solutions with a focus on 'keeping it local'. These suggestions can be included as part of a Circular Systemic Solution developed at local/regional scale, especially during the Mapping and Designing Phases, for example in 'Identifying intervention areas and building a CSS case' and 'Defining targets'. Special focus is given to actors in the food, built environment, and manufactured goods sectors.
