TREASoURcE: Digital marketplace for biowaste and biobased side streams - Replication Webinar in Estonia

Updated on 30.07.2025

The webinar highlights the potential of a digital marketplace for biowaste in Estonia while addressing rural-urban symbiosis and promoting circular economy practices

Organiser: TREASoURcE
Type: Webinar

More Information

The online webinar was organized by the Estonian project partners (Tallinn, TalTech, Tartu) to introduce the outcomes of TREASoURcE and assess the feasibility of implementing these solutions in Estonia.

One of the key topics presented was the concept of a digital marketplace for biowaste and biobased side streams, based on the Finnish KiertoaSuomesta.fi model. The webinar also discussed the rural-urban symbiosis model from theoretical perspective as well as looked briefly at some real-life examples, such as circular model of insect culture and vertical farming.

Finally, the participants looked into the “Recycling Master” Online Course, which is the online learning material for target groups with special needs developed in TREASoURcE.

Relevance for Circular Systemic Solutions

The TREASoURcE Replication Webinar in Estonia focused on advancing circular economy practices across key value chains: plastics, batteries, and bio-based side and waste streams. A central topic was the potential replication of Finland's KiertoaSuomesta.fi digital marketplace for biowaste and bio-based side streams. The webinar also introduced the rural-urban symbiosis model.

These insights are relevant during the 'design' phase of implementing circular solutions, as they offer practical guidance on stakeholder engagement, digital tool adaptation, and educational strategies.
