Key objectives and (or) targets related to cities & regions

The Clean Industrial Deal sets out a joint roadmap for Member States to align competitiveness with decarbonisation. Its key objectives are to secure affordable and clean energy, ensuring that industry can decarbonise while staying competitive. It aims to create lead markets for low-carbon and circular products, boosting demand for clean technologies and strengthening Europe’s position as a global leader.

The Deal also prioritises mobilising public and private investments to scale up industrial innovation, while simplifying state aid and reducing bureaucratic barriers. In particular, the European Commission adopted a new State aid framework accompanying the Clean Industrial Deal (CISAF). This helps Member States to easily support the development of clean energy, industrial decarbonisation and clean technology. More information about the framework here.
